Our Story
Versatile Systems was officially founded in 2024, emerging from the Research & Development division of our sister company, Murray Consulting Solutions. Since 2020, the team had been laying the groundwork through pioneering work in autonomous passive surveillance and tracking technologies. Building on that foundation, Versatile Systems was established to focus on delivering innovative, real-world solutions through small Uncrewed Aerial Systems and integrated ground support technologies.
The Murray Group comprises 100% Australian family owned and closely coupled businesses, with a focus on making an outstanding difference for our people, clients, community, and environment.
Seeing a real need, especially for sovereign design and supply chain solutions, we focused our efforts on innovative design and manufacture of cost effective, long endurance, autonomous drones for Australian users. We have embraced rapid additive manufacturing and continue to leverage technology advancements - effectively establishing a highly scalable rapid manufacturing capability.
The CropSight project has further accelerated our growth, as we work to radically improve Australian agricultural productivity. This opportunity combines our deep industry knowledge on agriculture process and production improvement, with our teams engineering, design, aeronautical heritage, and production strengths.
Our Team
We’re a focused, agile team led by our Director Diana Murray and our Managing Director Craig Darby and supported by a broader network of over 20 contributors who have played a role in shaping our journey. This includes talented interns and graduates, as well as ongoing reach back into the expert consulting team at Murray Consulting Solutions. Our collective experience spans engineering, systems integration, field operations, and strategic planning. What unites us is a shared commitment to excellence, adaptability, and delivering success through collaboration, innovation, and hands-on problem-solving. Our Customers
Our first solutions were developed for a market of forward-thinking producers in Merino wool and orange orchard farming, where the need for reliable aerial mapping, surveillance, and data-driven insights was immediate and real. By working closely with these customers, we’ve shaped our systems to meet industry-specific challenges, from managing expansive terrain to detecting threats and optimising operations.
